A Few Things to be Excited About:

Ms. Krause Receives a Grant!

Congrats to Ms. Krause, who wrote and received a grant for $2,500 for her classroom. The grant, from Farmers Insurance, was awarded to Ms. Krause based on her application which described her desire to utilize Chromebooks in her classroom. Eight Chromebooks were purchases as a part of the grant. Way to go!

4th Grade Trip to Greenfield Village & The Henry Ford Museum

The 4th grade class is heading to Greenfield Village and The Henry Ford Museum on Wednesday, May 20. It is an early departure, so set your alarms. Students are asked to be at the school at 5:45, so the bus may leave at 6:00. We talked briefly about the qualities that we expected to see from our students today while they are on this trip. Qualities like being:

Inquirers
Communicators
Principled
Open-minded
Caring
We also wanted them to:

Be Appreciative
Be Tolerant
Have Integrity
Have Respect

These are all terms (attributes and attitudes) that tie into the International Baccalaureate framework that we have been implementing with the students. This is their big test to see this hard work in action. We are excited to see the outcome.

5th Grade is Involved with JIFF

The 5th grade is working their way through their JIFF (Jump into Foods and Fitness). This is a presentation through the Teen Health Center promoting a healthy lifestyle for kids. Instructors introduce students to healthy snacks and the students learn about different muscle groups and how to keep in shape. So if your child comes home and says he or she now likes cauliflower, now you know where that came from. :-)
