Parent Survey

5th Grade to Middle School

5th Grade to Middle School Meeting On Monday, May 2nd, the Middle school will be hosting a 5th G rade Parent Night. The focus of this meeting is to welcome incoming students and their parents to the middle school. Brief workshops and tours will serve to introduce the students to their future teachers, and discuss school expectations with the parents. Below is an itinerary for this event. M-STEP

M-STEP Testing Begins Soon! M-STEP testing will begin next week, starting Monday (4/11) and running through the week of April 25, for the 5th grade students. 5th grade students will take tests in Math, English Language Arts, and Social Studies. These tests are a combination of knowledge/content assessment and performance task assessments. We will be using the computer lab and a second lab we created in the art room to test all of the students. Please help us by making sure the kids have plenty of rest, and breakfast before school. (We do have free breakfast for students in the morning.) Upcoming Field Trips

Upcoming Field Trips We have some upcoming field trips: April 8 - 4th and 5th grade will travel to the high school to view the play, The Pirates of Penzance  (put on by the high school students). April 15 - 5th grade will travel to the Grand Rapids Public Museum and Planetarium.   April 18 & 19 - 4th grade will travel to the Music House for a music/science field trip to study sound and music.

Pirates of Penzance

Pirates of Penzance Viewing On Friday, April 8, 2016, 4th and 5th grade students will be walking to the High School to see a special viewing of the high school's rendition of, The Pirates of Penzance . We will be leaving the school at 12:50 and returning in time for dismissal. Please make sure your student has appropriate attire (coat, hat, mittens) for the walk. If, by chance, we have anyone with crutches, we will make sure they don't have to suffer the walk over.  :-)  Thanks!

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher Conferences Thursday, March 10, 2016 Due to a previously scheduled conference, I will not be able to be present at Parent/Teacher Conferences this Thursday (3/10/16). If you have concerns, or if some develop after the P/T Conferences, please feel free to contact me to schedule a time to meet to address these concerns. You may call the office, or email me directly. This round of P/T Conferences will be student-led, and I am very excited for the students to show you what they have accompl ished this year. We are looking forward to seeing all who can attend. Carnations Fundraiser

Carnations Fundraiser The Liverance classroom will be selling Valentine carnations for just one dollar tomorrow, Friday, only! (Due to today's snow day.) Proceeds go to the Kalkaska Animal Shelter. Help support this worthy cause and share the love with pretty, ribbon-tied flowers! Send in money with your kids, or stop in after 2:30 where tables will be set up. Thank You!

1/2 Day Dismissals

1/2 Day Dismissal Times Just a reminder that on half days, Cherry Street will be dismissing our students at on 1/21 & 1/22 at 11:10. If you have any questions, please call the office. (These are half days for high school semester exams.)

NWEA is Back!

NWEA Testing This Week Cherry Street is scheduled to complete NWEA testing this week (and possibly next week if session go longer than expected). The students will only be tested on the math component of the assessment. Let us know if you have any questions. Thank you.

Upcoming Meeting!

Doughnuts and Coffee with the Principal Greetings everyone, on Wednesday, January 13 , I will provide doughnuts and coffee for anyone who would like to come in and discuss the technology that we are using at Cherry Street. I'm planning on taking a look at our use of Google Drive with the students, and how we are using Google Classroom to help prepare the students for the Middle School and beyond. 3rd & 4th Grade Boy's Basketball

3rd & 4th Grade Boy's Basketball Practice 3rd and 4th grade boy's basketball practice will start this week. Practice will be at the following times: Wednesday, January 6th: 4:30-6:00 @ Birch Street Gym Friday, January 8th: 3:30-5:00 @ Birch Street Gym This should be the times that we will have for the rest of the season.
