The 2019-2020 School Year is Here!

A New Year Begins!

Welcome back, everyone! Summer has flown by, and the school year is back in full swing. As we enter the third week of school, and I have to say that it is off to a great start.

A lot has changed since Cherry Street has last used The Cherry Street Connections. With the passing of time, we have adjusted how we teach at the school. This is our third year of team teaching at Cherry Street. Each teacher will teach science and social studies to their homeroom. Math and English are the subjects we use to divide the teams. The homeroom teacher is the class that the students go to first in the morning. We have two teams per grade. They are as follows:

Students who are identified as needed extra help may visit Ms. Bridson for Title. Title assists students with reading and math.

Cherry Street houses two Special Education teachers. Mrs. Dixon and Ms. Whiteford work together to meet the needs of the students receiving special education services.

Mrs. Kik is our counselor. Cherry Street shares her with Rapid City. She is at Cherry Street on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. She offers various support groups throughout the year.

Paraprofessionals help us with student arrival, different classroom interventions, lunch, and playground duties. Ms. Hall can be viewed at the crosswalk in the morning guiding students across the street. Ms. Davenport and Ms. Sudau can be found in the cafeteria or out on the playground in the morning monitoring students while they have fun.

Mrs. Woodruff is our school secretary. Her smiling face is the first person you will typically meet when you enter the office. She is a great source of information if you have any questions.

Finally, I am the Principal, Mr. Moore. I would like to welcome everyone to Cherry Street. We work hard to make this a family environment. We want every child to succeed both academically and socially. I look forward to working with the kids and their families to help make this a successful year. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope this blog can help improve communications between our school and your home.
